ROOTS TRAILER

A Warm Welcome …

Food brings people together and connects people to their roots from near & afar. The ritual, the nostalgia, the stimulated senses, the connectivity, the stories & the ingredients. These all make food a powerful force and a beautiful subject for connecting to cultures or reflecting on one’s self’s identity. Being a person of mixed heritage can be a confusing place to sit as we straddle two cultures. I believe talking about our food experiences is another way of channelling into ourselves and our cultures. There is such beauty in straddling two cultures as we are a bridge of connection, and this bridge can (but not always) result in new rituals and recipes. The diversity of the mixed experience is vast and truly fascinating and when the talks come to food individuals tend to sparkle.

For the past fifteen years, I've been a chef in London, a city that’s as much a melting pot as my own kitchen. In Roots Food Talks, I sit down with people of mixed heritage to explore how their identity shapes what they cook & eat. These are the unique & delicious stories you won't find in recipe books. Join me as we uncover the flavours that make us who we are….
